From 22 June 2020 Mr David Tait will be the Acting Head Teacher at Aycliffe Village Primary School, until December 2020. Mr Tait will be working closely with Mrs Brown, Deputy Head Teacher, in this interim period. He has supported other schools in the Local Authority in similar situations, whilst waiting to appoint a Head Teacher, and looks forward to meeting pupils, families and the wider community in the coming weeks and months. Mrs Sutherland’s last day as Head Teacher was 19th June and she has now moved into another role. She left with many happy memories of her time at the school.
It is with great pleasure that I write this message as Head Teacher of Aycliffe Village Primary School. I joined the school in January 2018 and am really enjoying being part of such a friendly school community.
Our school offers all you would hope for from a village school. We are proud of the ‘family feel’ we have created and feel it is a perfect environment in which children can flourish. Our motto of ‘Great oaks from tiny acorns grow‘ encompasses what we aim to achieve for our pupils – we support them to grow and develop to be the very best they can be. We want your child’s time at school to be a special time where they are supported and challenged through a curriculum and opportunities that make learning fun!
We are delighted that, in a recent Ofsted inspection (April 2019) our school was graded as ‘good’ in all areas. This followed an unsettled couple of years for our school so, it was wonderful that the rapid improvements we feel we are making, were recognised during this inspection. Please don’t just take my word for it – come and visit and I will be delighted to show you around and you can see our vibrant school in action! With my very best wishes
